VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Central Florida school teacher known as the "cat lady" who was fighting to keep nearly 150 cats at her home will get to keep her pets on property.
The following pets are available from Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence, 100 Dichroic Dragon Drive, Pembroke, GA 31321. You can view other animals at the shelter at www.gardonline.org/ . For appointments and to learn about Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence, call Joy Bohannon at 653-2480. Small Dog Adoption Day will take place from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at PetSupermarket.
With forecasts of warmer weather the next few days, animal shelters have issued reminders about protecting pets from the heat.
The animal center in Roanoke will allow people to browse photos of pets being held there. The Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection is going digital. The center is launching a Web site today that will allow people whose pets are missing to browse pictures of animals held there. The center serves Roanoke, Vinton and Botetourt and Roanoke counties.
