The increasing number of foreclosures here in the Valley is causing another problem, and this time it involves people's four legged fury friends. As the number of abandoned homes go up, so too do the number of pets left behind, especially cats.
Many pets are being abandoned across the Panhandle because families can no longer afford to take care of them.
Pets are available for adoption at the Tri-City Animal Shelter, run by the city of Fremont, and at the nonprofit Furry Friends Rescue showcases. The shelter, at 1950 Stevenson Blvd.
Tomball and Magnolia area residents may want to head over to the Houston SPCA between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 when the animal shelter will give away free pets.
