    Tomball and Magnolia area residents may want to head over to the Houston SPCA between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 when the animal shelter will give away free pets.

    The pets of the week are a black and white male husky in cage D9 and a white and orange cat in cage C37. The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 57 dogs, 38 cats and 26 kittens for adoption, said a shelter official. There were 47 adoptions in the past week.
